A Passion Project for Education

This unique display, located in Austin, TX, is the lifelong work of Ira Poole, a dedicated educator. Beginning in the 1970s, Mr. Poole, now in his 90s, has meticulously crafted a vibrant outdoor exhibit to teach students and passersby about American history and geography. It's a testament to his passion and commitment to education, built entirely from his own resources.

A Miniature America

The display features a striking 7-foot-tall replica of the Statue of Liberty, standing proudly as a symbol of freedom. Visitors can explore a 4-foot-long concrete map of the United States, complete with a garden island representing Hawaii and an unusually shaped boulder signifying Alaska. A working fountain is dedicated to Niagara Falls, and two distinct maps of Texas are present, one of which has a yellow rose bush growing from its center, adding a touch of natural beauty to the educational landscape.
